Briefing notes about the 2O2O Teacher Appreciation and Support Programme (TASP) which includes October Teachers' Month (OTM); and the World Teachers' Day (WTD) activities.
BACKGROUND
- The Teacher Appreciation and Support Programme (TASP) is a broad project which was launched by the Minister of Basic Education in 2015.
- TASP includes the National Teaching Awards (NTA), October Teachers' Month (OTM), and the World Teachers' Day (WTD).
- The OTM and WTD activities will be undertaken in October. October has been identified as a teachers’ month as the World Teachers’ Day celebration, an event which is endorsed by UNESCO is on 05 October of each year.
DISCUSSION
- The 2020 October Teachers' Month activities will cover the whole month starting with the launch on 01 October and ending with a reflection session on 30 October 2020.
- The running order of the 3 programmes complimenting OTM will be submitted closer to the events.
