19 LEARNERS INVOLVED IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT


The Limpopo Department of Education has learnt with devastation that 19 learners from Thengwe Secondary School in the Vhembe West Education district, were involved in a vehicle accident this morning on their way to school.

The accident happened at Mutale - Makhithani, allegedly as a result of unsafe overtaking which caused ahead on collision. Reports from the scene indicate that four learners sustained serious injuries and 15 sustained minor injuries. They were all taken to Donald Fraser hospital for medical attention.

Limpopo MEC for Education, Polly Boshielo wished the learners a speedy recovery and cautioned motorists to be extra vigilant.

 "We would like to wish all the  learners who sustained injuries a speedy recovery. We caution motorists to obey the rules of the roads as failure to do so often results in unfortunate incidents like this, where our learners are get injured and miss school time. One day lost in school is one day too many. We truly wish them a full speedy recovery so that they return to school as soon as possibleā€, MEC Boshielo
