Limpopo MEC for Education, Polly Boshielo and MEC for Social Development Nkakareng Rakgoale visited the school and bereaved families on Monday, 19 April to offer their condolences. Social workers were also dispatched to the school and affected families to provide psycho-social support.

The departments are working with families, municipal authorities, traditional leadership and other stakeholders in the Collins Chabane Local Municipality in preparation for burial services.  MEC Boshielo will be attending the mass funeral scheduled for Friday.

Furthermore, on the passing of learners through car accidents, Limpopo Department of Education has also sadly learned of the tragic death of two learners from Phagamang Secondary School in Bochum West Circuit, who died in a motor vehicle accident this morning. It is reported that the learners were killed when a kombi they were travelling in collided head-on with a sedan at Senwabarwana.

It is alleged that the taxi ferrying leaners to school was speeding when it collided head-on with a sedan on the D1468 road at Ga-Maraise village. The kombi veered off the road and overturned. Two learners aged 14 and 15 were certified dead on the scene. Nine other learners and the Kombi driver were rushed to Helen Franz hospital with minor injuries and later discharged.

MEC Boshielo sends condolences to the families and the school community. “This is devastating beyond words.  We send our deepest condolences and pray that the bereaved be granted strength to get through this difficult time.”
