The Limpopo Education MEC, Polly Boshielo has expressed her deepest sorrow and devastation following a car accident that tragically claimed the life of a Grade 1 learner from Botshwa Primary School in Sebotlane village, Maleboho Central Circuit, Capricorn North District.
The Department learnt today, that the learner, met her untimely death on her way home after school when she was hit by a speeding car. Paramedics were called and declared the learner dead on the scene.
Sending her deepest condolences MEC Boshielo, during her visit to the family, said: “We are deeply saddened. Our hearts are heavy and we accordingly send our deepest heartfelt condolences to the entire family, friends, relatives and school community. This is a very difficult time for all of us. We lack the necessary words at this point in time. We must be united in this time of grief”.
The MEC urged motorists to always slow down especially when approaching areas where learners cross to school and back home.
The Department’s psycho social unit has been dispatched to start with the work of providing the necessary trauma counselling of learners, educators, support staff and the bereaved family.
