SAD FAREWELL FOR TOP ACHIEVING LEARNER

Mokopane - Emotions were high when Kagiso Ramokone Kale was laid to rest in her village of GaMadiba, Mokopane area on 9 September 2020. Kagiso was a top performing grade 12 learner at Ebenezer Secondary School in Mahwelereng circuit, Mogalakwena district. She met her untimely demise on 2 September 2020. Her death was confirmed as an incident of gender based violence. Limpopo Department of Education MEC, Polly Boshielo who was visibly in anguish requested community members to educate themselves and fight gender based violence.

MEC explained that violence against women and children should be prevented by all means possible. This means jointly working with relevant stakeholders on prevention and changing gender norms to cultivate gender equality. “In our hearts we all know that death is a part of our life but the loss of Kagiso’s life is the most stressful event and has caused major emotional crisis in us. Remember that a broken heart does not mean you are broken. The crack is there to let the light in. Sadness flies on the wings of the morning and out of the heart of darkness comes the light. May her soul rest in peace”, concluded MEC
