Strengthening the education system for learners even under the strict conditions of Covid-19 has been the priority of the Limpopo Department of Education. MEC for Education Polly Boshielo believes that education is a basic human right for all and therefore it is important for everyone to make the most of their lives.
Boshielo visited several schools to assess the state of readiness and whether the process of phasing in other grades is functioning efficiently as planned. She encouraged educators to manage their classrooms properly and to discharge their responsibilities adhering to Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs) of Covid-19.
MEC told stakeholders that a motivated educator is crucial to a successful classrooms and this helps to energise, direct and sustain positive behaviour over a long time.
Schools were also urged to limit the number of visitors and to screen properly by following the Covid-19 guidelines as outlined in the government gazette.
“Quality learning requires a safe, friendly environment and motivated educators. We must do things not only differently but better. Covid-19 has a major impact on our daily lives and we have all had to adjust and adapt in the face of insignificant challenges.
The department acknowledges the efforts of educators and stakeholders in continuing to work with learners during this turbulent period to promote teaching and learning in schools” concluded Boshielo
