UNDERPERFORMING CIRCUITS CALLED TO ACCOUNT

Polokwane - 37 circuits that underperformed in the 2019 Grade 12 results were subjected to an accountability session led by MEC Polly Boshielo and Acting Head of Department Onicca Dederen. The province reduced the number of underperforming circuits from 51 in 2018 to 37 in 2019. Sekhukhune East has 11 circuits that underperformed, followed by Sekhukhune South with 7 circuits, Capricorn North registered 6 underperforming circuits, Mopani West has 5, Capricorn South has 4, Mokgalakwena has 3 and Mopani East registered 1 circuit that underperformed. Circuit managers were given an opportunity one after the other to present and account for their respective underperformances and how they plan to turn things around in the 2020 academic year to perform as expected. MEC Boshielo said in her opening remarks “The province is where it is because some of us are not pulling our weight. Underperformance must be a thing of the past and we expect each circuit to contribute meaningfully to the province’s overall performance”
