Limpopo Department of Education is ready to administer the 2019 National Senior Certificate Examinations. This emerged from the Extended Top Management meeting, which included Circuit Managers, convened by MEC Polly Boshielo at Greenside Primary School yesterday afternoon. Tabling the State of Readiness, Chief Director, Ntlhashana Mphahlele said the all ducks are in row with regard registration of candidates, registration of examination centres, training of invigilators, printing, packing and distribution of question papers. The department has already launched the matric countdown drumming up support for the examinations. The administration of pledge signing has also taken place committing learners to uphold the principles of honesty and integrity in the 2019 examinations by among other things complying with all the rules and regulations relevant to the National Senior Certificate Examinations. The 2019 examinations will see 126 194 candidates sitting for the NSC exams, 94 561 fulltime and 31 633 part time candidates. These candidates will write the examination at 1 371 full time centres and 285 part time centres. Marking which will take place at 23 marking centres across the province will be in two sessions and will respectively take place on 15 November to 26 November 2019. This staggered marking will be followed by the main marking on the 30 November to 11 December 2019. MEC Boshielo urged the Circuit Managers who formed part of the meeting not to be complacent during the administration of the examinations as they have a responsibility to oversee what happens in all the examinations centres. She further urged the top management of the Department to ensure that monitoring is done from day one of the examination until the last day. MEC applauded the department for having put in place strategies and interventions to ensure that the entire examination runs in a proper and efficient way.
